Sheets: price, types, color...

What determines the price and quality of the sheets?

The higher the amount of thread contains the softer and luxurious is the sheet. Sheets with more than 200 threads per square inch have a strong finishing, resulting in smoothness and shinnying, with a texture similar to silk. They are extremely soft and durable. Percale sheets have a thread count of 180 thereafter. The muse line   has up to 160 threads and is less smooth when you touch it.

Tissue types also affect the quality of the sheet. There are three types of tissue: the simple, cross and satin. A satin fabric has most of the exposed thread in the surface of the fabric; this gives a shiny and glossy appearance to the sheet. The fiber content is also important.

What are the differences between different types of sheets?
Egyptian cotton is unique, extracted from plants originating and exclusive Nile River valley fine fibers vary in length, while the average of 11/8 and 11/2 inches. This makes the strongest and most lustrous of the world.

Supima cotton is an extra long staple, scientifically developed and produced by the association Supima (Superior Pima) of America. The fibers of 13/8 inches are uniform in length, making them stronger and softer than other varieties. Supima sheets are extremely soft and silky.

Pima cotton is a native of Arizona, was cultivated by the Pima Indians and is now produced in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California.

Polyester has been commonly utilized as a fabric in the sheets. This material is not natural, is made by man. This material does not wrinkle so much,   but less smooth, and also nor durable.  Synthetic fabrics and are much warmer than cotton.

Blended fiber. The most common one is cotton with polyester. The natural and synthetic fibers meant be more practical to care. Nevertheless such sheets are warmer than cotton, because they are less "breathable".


What color should be preferred?
The white color helps to kill mites as they can be washed with hot water and put them in the sun without changing its color. Light colors like beige or pastels white or sun originated spots are easily noticed .Dark colors cannot be washed with hot water or exposed to the sun, because they quickly lose their color, giving the appearance of washed or used.

You may use white sheets commonly, but in order to have contrast, you can put pillows, pillow cases of different color, bedspreads, blankets thin so it improves color diversity and contrast in your decoration.

Blog recommendation
The color sheets should be washed at temperatures no higher then-the can wash at 30 ° or 40 °, meanwhile White can be washed up to 60 °.
In either case it is necessary before washing to remove the spots properly.
