Using vinegar to take care of your clothes

To prevent discoloration of clothes, one may soak them in cold water and vinegar before washing. It is best to do this on the first time that the clothes are to be washed, especially if they are of a strong or intense color. After doing this pre-soaking, one can continue washing the clothes normally, according to the instructions indicated in the label.

When washing silk garments by hand (always done gently with lukewarm water), one can add vinegar in the final rinse to protect the color of the fabric. The garment is simply allowed to soak  for a few minutes, and is then rinsed normally.

To remove burn stains on clothes, one can rub the area with a mixture of vinegar and salt. The stained area may also be soaked in this mixture for a few minutes, and then washed according to label instructions.
