Higher or lower temperature?

We tend to think that if we wash clothes at a higher temperature they will always be cleaner… But before deciding at what temperature do laundry, we must consider two basic things:
1) Fabric resistance, dye, and finishing. All these affect cloth washing. Generally, we can wash white cotton (bed sheets, towels, tablecloths) at 60º C or 140º F, but for dark colored cotton we should set a lower temperate, 30º-40º C or 85-105º F, according to the level of dirtiness. Here, we don’t wish to give a negative opinion about the clothes we buy (because there are many different cases…), but to avoid disappointments, we need to know that that sometimes dark garments, even though we wash them at low temperature and with non-chlorine bleach detergents, they still fade after successive washes.
2) Characteristics of detergents. Usually, detergents indicate the ideal washing temperate, depending on their composition and auxiliary washing preparations.
