Can any garment be dry-cleaned?
- No. It all depends on the materials from which the garment is made. Each item of clothing has a label that among other things shows the composition, and shape of washing, drying, and ironing.
- Never remove this label. Follow these instructions to ensure optimal care of the garment.
- If a label says dry cleaning, all components of the garment, including the exterior, lining, buttons, interlinings, and decorations must be durable for dry cleaning. This is the case if the garment is of good quality and the label corresponds exactly to the instructions.
- When the clothes has a light stain, do not wait long. Stains that are not treated immediately, can become permanent.
- Try not to put on clothing perfumes, creams, deodorants etc. Alcohol containing some of them can make the colors run. Some ancient perfume stains do not go out.
- It is good to avoid excessive perspiration, as this may cause discoloration of the dyes of the garments. In cases like this, it is advisable to wash the garment more often.
- If the garment has a stain, it is best not to iron over the stain, because heat can set stains.
- If the garment can be washed in water, try to remove the stain first by hand with cold water. If the garment is only for dry cleaning, do not try to remove the stain with water.
How come my garment has a stain when before cleaning it did not have?
- Sometimes we keep the clothes with a stain and not realize it. Over time we wash with water or dry clean our clothes and see a spot that was not there previously. This can happen with flecks of sugars (juices, fruit drinks, etc.) or tannin stains. If it's been a long time (ex. a season), it is difficult to remove these spots.
If I have a garment washed several times and nothing has happened, does this mean that there is no danger of fading?
- The more one washes a garment, the risk of fading increases, particularly in garments made of silk, rayon, acetate and cotton. So you have to be careful with excessive temperatures in the washer.
