Storage Space
An ample storage space is a first hand requisite for the best care of clothing, it should provide for an orderly arrangement in chests, closets or drawers. The closet should be fitted with a rod to hold hangers, which placed side by side make for an economy of space. Closets filled with clothing need frequent airing. Clothes should be loose inside closet to not wrinkle too much.
Covers
The garments which hang for any length of time should have covers. The material for these should not be too heavy, but close enough to keep out them the dust. There are various types of covers, some opening down the front, which makes it a very simple matter to take out garments or put them away.
Others have a flap which buttons up at the bottom. This is very good when the garment will hang for a long time, as there is no chance for dust to get into the garment from the floor of the closet. Others covers for protective storage are made of paper lined with cedar, others are coated with moth-proof substances.
Plastic covers are commonly available too. You can make your own covers using the pattern shown and then increase the moth protection by using herbal repellent products inside them.
Additional Storage
If the storage space es limited, there are bed boxes, (long, shallow boxes, sometimes on castors so they can roll easily under the bed). These can be long enough to take a garment full lenght.
Nowadays, you can find clothing wardrobes made of cardboard, too |
