There is simply no need to iron bedding,
kitchen teatowels, or casual clothing if these are folded carefully and piled
in the drawer or cupboard for a sufficiently long time before use. This is
precisely what we once used linen presses for. There is certainly a case to be
made for ironing work shirts and those fine line garments reserved for best,
but in most cases, a good shake out and a blow on the line should do much of
this work for you in any event. Pure
linens should be removed from the line just before they are quite dry, and this
will greatly ease the job of ironing them.
