Care for Clothes

Wash clothes with regular frequency—neither too clean—that is when there is still no need to wash them (e.g. skirts, jackets or pants which were slightly worn), nor too dirty.

Time and special stain removal products are needed for washing very dirty clothes.

Try not to keep clothes which are still a bit wet so that molds or the smell of dampness do not stick to them.

To ensure that the items are always in good condition it would be good to follow the indications found in the tag/label (washing, ironing and drying).

Use the right amount of detergent. Items which seem to be “yellowish” in color could have been the result of putting too much detergent, clothes which were not rinsed well or a prolonged use of bleach. Items which are “grayish” in color could mean an excessive use of softener or optical brighteners.

Use whitening detergents or optical brighteners in washing white items. However, for colored clothing one can use detergents specifically for them.

Try limiting the use of bleach. Use it only for white clothing which have stains that were not taken out by other stain removal procedures. Use it with cold water and leave only the stained part soaked in the bleach-water mixture. Never use pure bleach in washing clothes.

It is better not to go higher than 30º o 40º when washing clothes.

For towels, tablecloths and bedsheets, one can go up as high as 60º. We wash woolen clothen at 0º.
